All open concerts are not allowed, said the Kedah exco

JITRA: The Kedah government has decided not to allow all open concerts in the state, said state government Exco Firdaus Ahmad. He said the decision was made following a discussion with Kedah Mentri Besar Sanusi Md Nor during the recent state government exco meeting. I presented the issue at the meeting and the decision made by the state government was to prohibit and not allow any open concerts in Kedah.

Some claim that the state government does not allow any program to be organized. Don’t get this wrong. There is no problem if you want to hold a program but if you want to hold an open concert as part of the program it is not allowed,” he said after officiating the state-level National Sports Day here today. Firdaus, who is the chairman of the tourism, arts and culture, youth and sports, entrepreneur development and state cooperatives committee, was asked about the outcome of his discussion with Sanusi on the concert ban.

All district officials already know the standard operating procedures that have been set. Not everything is forbidden. For example, nasyid concerts, busking or programs conducted in the hall or in private can still be considered by district officials,” said Firdaus. Sanusi previously said any entertainment concert that encourages unethical behavior is not allowed in Kedah.

This follows the spread of a video recording of a musical performance near the Kedah State Painting Gallery, which eventually caused people to start dancing, causing the community to feel uneasy as the place was not far from the Zahir mosque.
