Hezbollah fires rocket salvo at northern Israel

Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah said it launched two bombings in northern Israel yesterday in response to Israeli killings outside a hospital in southern Lebanon early in the morning.

Hezbollah-affiliated Hamas and Israel have regularly exchanged fire on the border since an October 7 attack by a group of Palestinians in southern Israel, sparking a war in the Gaza Strip. Hezbollah fighters fired two salvos of “dozens of Katyusha rockets” into northern Israel “in response to the attack by the Israeli enemy which targeted the Martyr Salah Ghandour hospital in Bint Jbeil,” said the group in two subsequent press releases.

The rockets targeted different areas of northern Israel, including Meron and Kiryat Shmona, the group said. The Israeli military said shortly after the sound echoed in the north of the country.

The management of the company said that one person died and 10 others were injured, four of them seriously. Lebanon’s health ministry condemned “Israel’s barbaric crime” at the hospital, calling it a “war crime” in a statement.
